Twentieth Sunday in Ordinary Time| Vigésimo Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario
How blessed is the man who fears the
LORD
We all fear many things such as death,
loneliness, failure, and sometimes even
the truth. We all know that to fear
something is to be afraid of someone or something as
likely to be dangerous, painful, or threatening.
We are always told that our Lord is love. He is merciful
and great. So why would God, our loving Heavenly
Father tell us to fear him? Today, I will tell you why.
When He tells us to fear Him, it does not mean to be
afraid of Him.
The fear of God is a perspective of respect, a response
of reverence and wonder. It is the beginning of wisdom.
In Psalm 34, King David teaches us on how to fear the
Lord: “Come, you children, listen to me; I will teach
you the fear of the LORD… Keep your tongue from
evil, and your lips from speaking deceit. Depart from
evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.” (Verses
11,13-14)
So let us praise and glorify our Shepard. Fear Him, for
blessed is the man, who fears the LORD.
¡Bienaventurado es el hombre que teme al
SEÑOR!
Todos tememos a muchas cosas como la muerte, la
soledad, el fracaso, y algunas veces incluso la verdad.
Todos sabemos que temer a algo es tener miedo de
alguien o de algo que pueda ser peligroso, doloroso o
amenazador. Siempre se nos dice que nuestro Señor es
amor. Él es misericordioso y grande.
Entonces, ¿por qué Dios, nuestro amoroso Padre
Celestial, nos dice que le temamos? Hoy te diré por
qué. Cuando Él nos dice que le temamos, no significa
tener miedo de Él.
El temor de Dios es una perspectiva de respeto, una
respuesta de reverencia y asombro. Es el principio de la
sabiduría.
En el Salmo 34, el Rey David nos enseña acerca de
cómo el temor del Señor: “Venid, hijos, escúchenme;
Te enseñaré el temor del SEÑOR ... Guarda tu lengua
del mal, y tus labios de hablar engaño. Apartaos del mal
y haced el bien; Buscar la paz y perseguela”
(Versículos 11, 13-14)
Así que alabemos y glorifiquemos a nuestro Pastor.
Temele, porque bienaventurado es el hombre que teme
al SEÑOR.

is our persistent calling out to Jesus and our
faith that count, for Jesus always responds.
With love for your neighbors who have nothing, look around your house to see what furniture, household items, and clothing you no longer use…and give it to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.

Twentieth Sunday in Ordinary Time| Vigésimo Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario
We offer doctrine catechism for your children who are 3-6 year old's. It will start on
Sunday, September 3 from 10:30-11:30. During this time there will also be catechism for parents to
learn more about the catholic faith. For those of you who would like to enroll your children, there will
be sign-up sheets and more information THIS WEEKEND after all masses. Contact the office for more
information!

Hop Fastpass ™ is a payment card that is more efficient for Users of TriMet, C-TRAN and Portland Streetcar. There will be an information meeting NEXT Sunday, August 27th at 1:30 pm in the Coffee and Donuts room. Martin Gonzalez from TriMet Public Affairs will be handing out free Hop Fastpasses to those who need.

mass. As Catholics, we are against abortion
and will not favor to have our taxpayers fund
for abortion. If you are an eligible voter, you
can make a difference by participating in this
important petition.
