NICHCY is pleased to offer this training module in Spanish as ahelpful resource to the field. We hope you find the moduleuseful in helping Spanish-speaking families throughout theUnited States understand the nation’s special education law andhow to participate effectively in their child’s education.
The module describes the membership of the IEP Team andincludes a slideshow presentation, this Trainer’s Guide showingthe content of the slides and how the slideshow operates, andhandouts in Spanish for participants. Detailed discussion ofeach slide’s content is available in the English version of thistraining module (available online at www.nichcy.org/Laws/IDEA/Pages/BuildingTheLegacy.aspx).
The handouts for participants include translations of selectedfinal regulations of IDEA 2004. These are not official translations ofIDEA's regulations, however, and are not to be construed as such.

This training module, with its many components, is part of a muchlarger training package on the legal requirements of the Individualswith Disabilities Education Act, as amended in 2004. The full pack-age is called Building the Legacy: IDEA 2004 Training Curriculum and isa product of the National Dissemination Center for Children withDisabilities (NICHCY), produced at the request of the Office ofSpecial Education Programs (OSEP) at the U.S. Department ofEducation.
